Who we are

We are Vodacom (Pty) Ltd (referred to as "Vodacom"). Our registered office is Vodacom Park, 585 Mabile Road, Old Europa, Maseru 100, Lesotho. We are registered in Lesotho under company number I95/236.

In some circumstances, Vodafone Group Services Limited (VGSL) controls the processing of your personal information jointly with us. The registered office of VGSL is Vodafone House, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2FN, registered in England under company number 03802001.

Our Privacy Principles

Vodacom is committed to respecting your privacy. We take privacy, security and complying with data protection and privacy laws seriously. We have set out our core Privacy Commitments in our Privacy portal, which we aim to put at the heart of everything we do.

Personal Information We Collect

Information collected directly from you:

  • Contact details: Name, address, phone number, email address
  • Financial details: Credit/debit card information, bank account details for payment processing
  • Traffic data: Call records, SMS/MMS details, data usage, approximate location during communications
  • Device information: IP address, IMEI, MSISDN
  • Account information: Date of birth, gender, payment history, subscriptions
  • Credential information: Passwords, security hints for account access
  • Your preferences: Product and service preferences based on your usage patterns

Important: We don't keep records of the content of your calls or messages - only the technical data needed to provide connectivity and billing.

Information Sharing

We are not in the business of selling your data - we only share with suppliers who help us provide services.

  • Law enforcement when legally required
  • Emergency services (when you make emergency calls)
  • Third parties for marketing (with your explicit consent)

Artificial Intelligence

We may use Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to help us provide you with requested products or services. When we use A.I., we do so responsibly, and where necessary we will disclose that the content is generated by A.I.

Your Data Protection Rights

Right to Access Personal Data

You have the right to make a request for a copy of the personal data that Vodacom holds about you. To make this request, visit any Vodacom Lesotho shop and we will take reasonable steps to confirm your identity before providing your personal information.

Right to Correct Personal Data

You have the right to have information held about you corrected if it is not accurate. If what we hold needs updating or may be inaccurate, you can visit any Vodacom Lesotho shop to rectify such information.

Right to Data Portability

You have the right to take your data with you in certain circumstances. For example, you can access your call data records or any records that have been generated by you. Visit the nearest Vodacom shop to request this.

Right to Object

You can object to processing where we rely on our legitimate interests. Please visit the nearest Vodacom shop to exercise this right.

Right to Withdraw Consent

You can withdraw your consent any time after giving it. Contact our customer care team on 114 or visit the nearest Vodacom shop.

Right to Erasure

In certain circumstances you have the right to request that we erase personal data we hold about you. First check that your contract with Vodacom has been terminated by calling 114/115 or visiting the nearest Vodacom shop.

Marketing Preferences

To opt out of marketing messages:

  • Dial the relevant product USSD code to manage your permissions
  • Contact customer care team on 114
  • Tell the advisor during a marketing call
  • Visit the nearest Vodacom shop

Note: Opting out of marketing doesn't stop service-related messages, which you'll continue to receive.

Data Retention

We store your information for as long as required by law. Key timeframes include:

  • Traffic data: 12 months (legal requirement)
  • Account information: 1 year from contract end
  • Marketing purposes: Reasonable period after contract ends

How to Lodge a Complaint

If you want to contact us about any of your rights or complain about how we use your information:

  3. Contact the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) if you're still not satisfied
